Who we are
For over 30 years, Breadline Africa has worked to support vulnerable children in South Africa, providing early childhood development infrastructure to disadvantaged communities. Many South African children do not have adequate spaces to learn, so, by converting shipping containers into classrooms, libraries, kitchens and toilet units, we provide thousands of children with the opportunity to escape poverty through education.
Since 1993 we have provided more than 1100 structures across nine provinces. In addition to our infrastructure programme, we also address hunger in South Africa through our Winter and Christmas feeding initiatives. Since the start of South Africa’s lockdown on 26 March, we have expanded our feeding programme and supported the delivery of more than one million meals to people in need with the help of donors and partners.
