Life can change in an instant. What starts out as a typical day can end catastrophically, as a result of a brain tumour, car or sporting accident or a brain haemorrhage. And life can often change forever.

Brain injury doesn’t discriminate. It can happen to anyone at any time. Every year, over 40,000 children in the UK are left with a brain injury (NHS England). Many of these are mild brain injuries, but thousands will require rehabilitation and have to live with ongoing, life-changing difficulties.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury. We provide rehabilitation to help children make the best possible recovery after a serious accident or illness, both at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, Surrey and in the community across the UK.

Following a brain injury, children have to relearn basic skills such as how to talk, eat and walk again. Through our multidisciplinary team, we help children achieve their goals and maximise their ability to live the best life possible. We are there for the highs and inevitable lows as they rediscover independence after a brain injury.

This year, approximately 200 children with brain injury will receive intensive, bespoke rehabilitation through our multidisciplinary teams of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and therapists or attend our school at our National Specialist Centre in Surrey. Last year, we provided crucial online information to over 70,000 unique online visitors and direct support to over 1,240 children UK wide.

A donation of just £75 could pay for a group of children to go horse riding which is great exercise for developing core strength and balance.
