20 women a day die during childbirth in Tanzania. That leaves 20 or more infants at risk of starvation. As formula milk costs more than one week’s average wagebabies are often fed on black tea or rice which leads to malnourishment and then abandonment or deathWe provide loving and nurturing interim care for orphaned and abandoned children in Tanzania. We also work closely with the families of orphaned children to empower them to care for their children in their home by providing milk; education around hygiene and preventable diseases for the carer and their community; and training and start-up grants for small businesses so the carer can regain their dignity through independence.

We work with local partners and have saved the lives of over 800 babies in the last 4 years and reached over 4,000 beneficiaries (other children and adults in the family). The preventative health training has been spread throughout the communities the families live in. We are looking at expanding our outreach model to new partners across Africa.

You can help with even small donations from a weekend break or budget holiday, as small amounts of money go a long way:

  • £12 will supply milk to feed an orphaned baby for a week
  • £50 will supply a food parcel for a month for a whole family
  • £100 gives enough capital for a family to start a business
  • £300 feeds a baby for 6 months

More information can be found here.

Forever Angels Baby Home

We provide interim care for abandoned children, orphans without relatives to care for them, disabled children and children whose mothers are in hospital until they can be returned home or found new forever homes.

Maisha Matters

We take families with an at-risk baby with no lactating mother through a year long programme, enabling the child to be raised at home and  empowering families to move themselves permanently out of poverty.
