Lizzi’s Luxury Edit: South Africa and the Seychelles

This week I had an enquiry from a client who has previously been quite adventurous. They have been on a few multi-centre touring holidays in the past, always done in style!  However, they had not travelled since before Covid and were now ready to take the plunge. They asked me for ideas about where they could go to be wowed and rekindle their love of travel.

I have suggested a trip to South Africa, combined with the Seychelles. The idea would be to fly to Cape Town, have a few days there exploring the town including the famous Table Mountain, and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. From Cape Town, there are many day excursions, such as to the Cape of Good Hope to see the Penguins. I, personally, tend not to recommend the day trips to the Winelands or the one-day safaris. I think these require more time to experience properly. Hotel-wise, I would suggest Cape Grace, with easy access to the waterfront, Belmond Mount Nelson, built-in 1899, or the One and Only for families.

After exploring Cape Town, the clients could venture north the Stellenbosch to visit the Winelands and then fly to Port Elizabeth to take in a short safari. I recommend the less crowded Pumba Game Reserve and staying at the Pumba Water Lodge. If you have children, though, Shamwari is excellent as it is a non-malaria area.

On to the Seychelles and some well-earned R&R. I can reel off a list of wonderful hotels, such as Six Senses, North Island, Fregate Island, Denis Private Island, Four Seasons and Labriz…. but I would want to discuss these to match the right hotel to the client.

Either way, the above itinerary would be guaranteed to impress!
