We all go to work each morning in order to support those most in need and least likely to find support elsewhere. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and to have the opportunity to thrive as individuals.

For many of our clients, their arrival in the UK is the end point of an arduous and lengthy journey. After years of uncertainty, it marks the beginning of a return to normality. It means a safe and warm home, food security, predictability and, most importantly, a sense of agency. Finding that agency can be difficult at first, and we want to walk alongside our clients as they face these challenges and overcome their trauma.

“The first time when I came to the UK everything was like the dark, I didn’t understand anything. Now I have help from you, I can ask you everything. I discuss with [Migrant Help] what I can do.” Sic

As well as people seeking asylum, we also support survivors of modern-day slavery and human trafficking. Slavery is something we think of as a terrifying and inhumane crime that has been consigned to the history books. Shockingly, this is simply not the case. There are more people experiencing slavery globally right now than there have been at any point in history.

It is a sobering and terrifying statistic.

According to the most recent UK Government figures, nearly 17,000 people were recorded as potential victims in the UK. More than 40% of these were children and a quarter were British nationals. This is a growing problem, happening in ordinary houses on ordinary streets in the UK.

We are there to support survivors on their road to recovery, securing them safe accommodation, helping them to access treatment for both their physical and mental health, assisting with accessing legal services, securing financial support and helping them realise and chase new dreams.

“Having our Migrant Help support worker made us feel safe, and gave us time. She helped us through our hard time with understanding and transparency. I’m deeply grateful that she is still supporting us. I’d like to thank you all for all the help. You do a cracking job.”

You can help us achieve this vision and support vulnerable people. By donating to our Crisis Fund, you can help rebuild the lives of men and women who have fled persecution and give hope to survivors of slavery. Children also suffer alongside their parents, but their needs are so often forgotten. With your help we can bring more joy into their lives through our Children’s fund.
