The Sunshine Foundation for Children with Special Needs is a London based charity, established in 2004 to support the St Andrew’s School for Special Education (SASSE) in Grenville, Grenada. The school currently educates 50 pupils between the ages of 5-21 years with a range of Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and sensory impairments. SASSE relies very heavily on donations from local business and the generosity from individual supporters at home and abroad.
Support is provided to the school through:
- providing a range of educational materials
- providing personal and assistive care equipment
- funding the cookery programme that enables the pupils to learn valuable independence skills
- sponsoring individual pupils through payment of their school and lunch fees
- providing the annual Sunshine in a Box Christmas gift for all pupils (and staff)
We aim to raise funds for and awareness of children with special needs and disabilities both in Grenada and here in the UK through disseminating information, organising training and working closely with other special needs organisations. We are proud of our continued support of Ealing MENCAP and the work they do with children and young people with learning disabilities.

The Sunshine Foundation for Children with Special Needs believes that all children can shine. We value the right for every child to have a quality of life and education that enables them to reach their potential academically, emotionally and socially. Children and young people with additional needs, given opportunities and appropriate support, can achieve and make valuable contributions to their community… Together, we can make this happen!
Our Fundraising Events
Our fundraisers are always a lot of fun! We love to bring the community together to enjoy themselves whilst raising much needed funds. We hold several fundraisers each year including our now well renowned Sunshine Showcase evenings, Black History Month Quizzes, Games and Quiz nights, Caribbean evenings and sponsored walks.
