About us
Beyond Reflections (formerly known as Chrysalis) aims to create a world where every gender diverse person can be free to be their authentic self.
We do this with empowerment through support groups, workshops and counselling; engagement at events, Pride, networking, conferences and campaigns; and education which is immersive, empathic and informed by a wealth of experience.
We have been supporting trans* people since 2005 and know everyone’s journey is unique. People come to us to find themselves, to explore their gender identity and to determine what they want to do with that knowledge. Not everyone who comes to Beyond Reflections will go on to transition, for all those who do we help them make informed choices.
Our family and friends support is there for anyone else on the journey, anyone supporting a loved one in their transition. We provide the same safe, non-judgemental, confidential counselling; opportunities to meet those of similar life experiences; support groups and one-to-one chats with our volunteers and keep the two branches of our support separate. Beyond Reflections understands that loved ones need time to think and talk about themselves.
We know being trans* is not a choice, we help people understand themselves better and make healthy decisions.
The importance of support
Our support saves lives! Being trans is an aspect of human diversity, not a mental health issue, but the denial, discrimination and abuse experienced by many trans people too often leads to loneliness, isolation and lasting trauma. Coming to Beyond Reflections gives trans people and their families a lifeline to recovery and the opportunity to finally reach their true potential.
