Florida has a lot to offer, and your visit here should reflect the many different sides of this beautiful state, from theme parks and big city atmosphere to relaxing days on the water, seaplane tours, golfing, exploring nature and taking in the many quaint small towns with big personalities all of their own. Thankfully, there’s one location in the state where you can see and do all of this in the same trip. Welcome to the Real Florida, a place like no other that’ll have you planning your return trip here in no time.
Just 30 minutes west of Orlando awaits Lake County, a vacationer’s dream filled with unique experiences and exceptional dining options. It’s even home to some of the region’s top-notch breweries as well as a winery and accompanying picturesque vineyard. But perhaps one of the most loved among visitors are the hiking, biking and other nature adventures provided by numerous state parks in the area.
Spend your days exploring Real Florida in style, whether your heart leads you to discover nature via land and water trails, or you find yourself winding your way through charming shops and galleries. If it’s nature that’s drawing you in, hiking is an option and there are many must-do hikes in Lake County, including a hike up to the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Trail for a view of one of the highest points in peninsular Florida. Trails in Lake County also exist on water, and these Blueways are accessible via boat and kayak rentals year round. In the winter months, however, many prefer to see them from above, either from a comfortable spot aboard a luxury paddleboat at brunch or from even higher atop the waves looking through the window of a seaplane.
Of course, no trip would be complete without the search for souvenirs, and we have a feeling you’ll love the search in Real Florida towns like Mount Dora, Clermont and Leesburg. Each of these towns has walkable downtown shopping areas complete with eclectic shops and galleries featuring local artists and artisans. Head over to a U-pick farm for a tasty treat of Florida’s famous oranges and other citrus. For a different kind of souvenir, visit the Lakeridge Winery in Clermont for a tour and free wine tasting before selecting the perfect gift from their on-site gift shop. The winery also presents festivals and events throughout the year.
By evening, treat your loved ones to some of Real Florida’s restaurants and breweries. Dinner at Goblin Market,1921 Mount Dora or Pisces Rising all offer amazing meals and play to your romantic side. Pair your meal with after dinner drinks at a local brewery, such as Wolf Branch Brewing, Clermont Brewing Company or Suncreek Brewery.
