Ben Uri Arts and Health Institute brings meaningful creative engagements inspired by the Ben Uri Collection to older adults across the UK, improving their mental health, independence, and quality of life. With over a decade of experience working in care homes and day centres, spanning academic research and accessibility best practise, we have developed innovative new ways to make our funding go further.
Starting with Art is a unique programme which supports trainee art therapists to undertake ten-month training placements with their local care setting, offering rare opportunities for sustained 1:1 therapeutic support for those who most need it.
Ways into art is designed for care staff, activity co-ordinators and carers at home, featuring pre-prepared resources and tutorial style films, to help others to deliver art discussion and art making sessions in house and at low cost. As the first virtual gallery and museum, our mission is to transform these person-to-person engagements into online content, reaching new audiences.
