Who We Are

We’re Accessible Arts & Media, a small charity based in York. We’ve been running inclusive arts and media learning and wellbeing projects in and around York since 1982.

We directly support over 350 people each year, including disabled adults and young people, people living with dementia and people with enduring, severe mental ill-health.

Our person-centred approach means activities are tailored to the individual, supporting everyone to take part in the way that suits them best. We level the playing field by providing everyone with the support and space they need to have an equal say. And we make sure everyone has a lot of fun along the way!

We believe everyone can learn, everyone can be creative, and everyone can make a contribution to their community. They just need the right support, and that’s where you come in.

With your support, we can offer subsidised places, rent larger accessible venues and provide members with the materials they need to shine in their community. From sign sheets in weekly sessions to fun online resources, your support will mean that we can create happy memories for years to come.

Why Support Us?

The people who take part in our projects often face difficulty with everyday activities. They can end up feeling isolated and cut off from the world around them, impacting their mental health.

Our activities support their wellbeing by helping them feel happy, connected, and valued. We help them develop the skills and confidence to connect with their local community and have more of a say in the things that matter to them.
