Our Animal Protection Policy

At Charitable Traveller Magazine we believe that all animals should be respected for their intrinsic value and we recognise that wild animals have a right to a wild life. As such, we will not permit the use or feature of captive wild animals within our magazine for any purpose, including for advertising, whether this use is arranged directly or in-directly through a third party, where the wild animal is, for example –

Trained to perform tricks, give rides, or to be near humans;

From an animal rental company or animal wrangler;

From an exotic pet breeder, collector or pet shop;

From a commercial zoo or other tourist entertainment venue;

Dressed in human clothing and/or made to behave like a human;

Used for fighting or racing, cultural heritage rituals or festivals;

Used for celebratory events such as weddings or corporate parties.

We will not purchase or utilise photography or videography of wild animals in captivity in our publishing activities unless –

  • There is clear intention to generate awareness about an animal welfare issue and / or to advocate the message that wild animals belong in the wild unless for their own wellbeing they absolutely cannot be kept from the wild
  • The content was obtained by or for a reputable animal welfare, rescue or conservation charity with a primary purpose to highlight or educate on wildlife exploitation, and to advocate the message that wild animals belong in the wild, except if a genuine and reputable charity has protected the animal for its’ survival, and a credit to the provider is featured.
