The Need
93% of people in sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to basic surgical care. This results in treatable disabilities, which have essentially been eradicated in high-income countries, becoming permanent debilitating conditions; compounded by a lifetime of physical pain, shame, and isolation.
The Work We Do
CURE Internationalʼs global network of eight childrenʼs hospitals are world-class facilities with highly trained surgeons and caregivers providing charitable specialised care for children with disabilities, in some of the poorest countries in the world. The children we serve have conditions like clubfoot, bowed legs, cleft lips, untreated burns, and hydrocephalus.
Medical excellence for the most vulnerable
From pre-surgery evaluation, through surgeries, physiotherapy, and mobility device fitting, children receive comprehensive, transformational care. Patients receive free surgical treatment regardless of gender, religion, or ethnicity. We also train local surgeons, medical professionals and partner with local pastors. Not only do we strive to provide the highest standard of care, but we train local doctors and surgeons to do the same.
CURE UK is an independent UK charity providing fundraising and project support to the CURE Hospital network, working to improve quality of life for children living with correctable disability. Currently CURE operates hospitals in Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Niger, Philippines, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
