Lizzi’s Luxury Edit: Accessible Travel

If you have a disability, there are more ways than ever to help you to fulfil your love of travel. Whether you would like a hotel to stay in the UK, set off on a group tour discovering more of your own country, or venture further afield, the world is becoming much more understanding that luxury travel should be accessible to all.

Thanks to a select few travel companies, themselves founded by disabled travellers, everything can be arranged for you so that your journey runs smoothly. Starting with specially adapted airport transfers, assistance at the airport, help with boarding and disembarking, meet and greet services, and adapted transfers on arrival at your destination, to arriving at your hotel or villa and enjoying accessible access to your adapted room, you can travel virtually anywhere in the world. You can take your own carer if you’d like, or a carer can be provided to accompany you all the way. Special equipment can often be hired if you don’t want to take your own.

To whet your appetite, have a look at this: Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences has become the world’s first IncluCare certified resort making it a trail blazer in the wider travel industry when it comes to inclusivity and accessibiliity. The resort has accessible facilities and its staff have been specifically trained to help cater to those with a variety of additional needs. Let’s hope this sets a trend and many more hotels sign up for this.

Luxury cruises, safaris, and beach stays in exotic locations such as the Caribbean, the Maldives, and the Far East await you. Gone are the days of having to compromise on accommodation. Worldwide, there are luxury hotels that will welcome you, with access to the beach, the pool, and the restaurants, many providing beach-friendly wheelchairs.

The best way to plan a holiday if you have additional needs, is to ask the experts, as they will take all the hassle out of planning.  If you do have a disability and would like to plan a holiday, please get in touch with us at Charitable Travel and we will work with our specialist partners to make sure you get the help you need to travel to your dream destination.
