Lizzi’s Luxury Edit: The Cap St Georges Hotel and Resort, Cyprus

Every now and then, a new hotel opens that is just a cut above the rest. Cap St Georges Hotel and Resort opened in June 2022 in Cyprus, and it definitely falls into this category. Situated about a 40-minute taxi transfer from Paphos airport, it is set on an unspoilt peninsula, far from all the other hotels in Paphos harbour.

It is big, bold, and very modern, built with attractive local stone. Upon entering the stunning lobby, with hundreds of glass fish seemingly swimming across the ceiling, you are welcomed on one of the oversized sofas and given a hot towel and welcome drink. This sets the tone.

There are 195 rooms and even the entry-level rooms are very spacious, most with floor-to-ceiling windows, fabulous bathrooms and beds big enough to sleep several people! The decor is all cream and white.

There are eight restaurants, ranging from Mediterranean to Asian to Italian, plus a 7th-floor fine dining restaurant with spectacular views. There are also various pool and beach bars. The standard of cuisine is high using local produce where possible and serving excellent local wines. The locally made halloumi and olive oil are delicious!

The USP has to be the huge selection of activities on offer, including beach volleyball, scuba diving, private yacht sailing, horse riding, yoga, archery, beekeeping, kayaking, tennis, fishing, football, and halloumi and olive oil making. It’s also the first hotel I’ve seen with a dedicated state-of-the-art gaming room. There is also a large and well-equipped kids club.

The outdoor pools are fantastic, and the spa pool is just gorgeous. There is also a huge Nautilus gym.

If all this makes the hotel sound busy It does not feel that way as it is sufficiently spread out that there is a peaceful atmosphere. The hotel is very different from anything I’ve seen before in Cyprus and a real game changer. This is real luxury, but the atmosphere is very friendly, the staff are handpicked and seem valued and motivated.

So, this new luxury hotel gets a definite thumbs up from me. Expect to pay just under £4000 for two people on a bed and breakfast basis at the end of April, including flights.
