Founded in 1923, SPANA (The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad) works to transform the lives of working animals, including horses, donkeys and camels, in the world’s poorest communities.

Working animals are the economic backbone of most low-income countries – they are vital for livelihoods and, in some cases, for survival. Yet without SPANA, few have access to even the most basic veterinary care.

Through three key areas – treating, training and teaching – we’re providing practical, professional and sustainable solutions, whilst also inspiring others to act in the best interests of working animals.

We receive no government funding, so we rely on our loyal supporters and partners like Charitable Travel to help us in this huge but vital task.

If you believe, like us, that every working animal deserves a life free from suffering, and to be treated with care and compassion, please find out more at www.spana.org
